What is Sinemet?
Sinemet is generically known as a combination of Carbidopa and Levodopa. Levodopa is a chemical converted to the hormone dopamine in the brain. Carbidopa is a chemical that slows the metabolism of Levodopa, allowing to it to reach the brain for it to interact. Sinemet is most often used to alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, in particular muscle spasms, tremors, and a lack of muscular control. it is also used to help with forms of Parkinson's caused by carbon monoxide or manganese poisoning. Sinemet is sometimes used for other reasons. Consult a doctor for more information about Sinemet.

Here are some interesting facts about Sinemet:
- The study of Levodopa earned the Swedish doctor Arvid Carlsson a Nobel Prize in Medicine in the year 2000.
- The following year, another Noble Prize, this time in chemistry, was awarded to William S. Knowles, who had studied Levodopa as well.
- Levodopa is quickly metabolized. Carbidopa is included in Sinemet to slower its metabolization and give it time to activate.
